Romos, Transylvania. First home of the Carinthian Landler in Romania

RomoČ™  •

This is the town where the Carinthian protestants (Hofer, Waldners, Wurz, Kleinsasser) that we've been following since the Danube finally settled for a short while. From the Second Chronicle: [They traveled from the Danube up the Bega to the capital Timisoara.] Here they left the boats and were taken by wagon into Transylvania. After two weeks traveling they arrived safely at Szaszvaros. The following day they were brought to a village called Rumes. They were lodged with neighboring farmers, and the authorities said they were to settle in the place. This was in October 1755. [It was here that a conflict with their Saxon German hosts ultimately led to the Carinthian Lutherans not receiving the land and homes that they had been promised.]
